Sandack to formally announce reelection campaign Tuesday

DOWNERS GROVE – State Rep. Ron Sandack (D-81) will formally announce his re‐election campaign at two press conferences Tuesday.

"Representing the varied communities in the district, Ron will detail why our state needs a leader like Ron – and why his vision is the one that will fix Illinois – at several separate venues throughout the day," his campaign said in a press release.

The first press conference will be at 9:30 a.m. at the downtown Downers Grove Main Street Station fountain.

The second is at 2:30 p.m. on the lawn of the River Bend Gold Course, 5900 State Route 53, Lisle.

Sandack will likely be faced by District 99 School Board Member Keith Matune in the spring Republican primary.

Matune sent letters this month to Republican precinct committeemen announcing his possible candidacy.

When reached by phone, Matune said he is circulating petitions and declined to comment until he is officially a candidate.

"Until my name is on the ballot and I have discussed it further with my family, that is the only comment I have at this time," he said.

He said he will likely make an official announcement in December.
