BERWYN – A homeless man was robbed of $800 cash then beaten by four men in an alley in the 6800 block of Cermak Road at 3:11 p.m. Oct. 23.

Police arrived at the scene after being called by a witness to the beating and found the 42-year-old victim with a swollen eye and cuts on his face. The victim said he was inside a Cricket store, 6806 Cermak Road, when he was approached by four males who offered to sell him a LG T-Mobile cellular phone for $75.

He accompanied the four to the alley to buy the phone. He was then attacked by the four subjects, who knocked him to the ground and stole $800 out of his pocket. They then began stomping and kicking him in the face and body.

A witness said the four subjects then fled on foot eastbound in the north Cermak Road alley.
