Elmhurst police to present railroad safety

ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Police Department recently received a $5,000 "U.P. Cares" grant from the Union Pacific Railroad for education activities.

Members of the Elmhurst Police Department, the Union Pacific Railroad and Metra will conduct a Railroad Safety Blitz at the downtown Elmhurst train depot. An Elmhurst police officer will give short Operation Lifesaver presentations inside the station. Officers and railroad employees will also be handing out educational brochures and materials promoting safety along the railroad.

The event will kick off the U.P. Cares grant with additional educational and enforcement efforts to come.

The Railroad Safety Blitz will be from 5 to 9 a.m. Tuesday at the downtown train depot.
