Police reports: La Grange, La Grange Park, Western Springs, Countryside and Westchester

Information in Police Reports is obtained from local police departments. Individuals listed in Police Reports who have been charged with a crime have not been proven guilty in court. 


Possession of
drug paraphernalia

Abigail R. Boyd, 23, of La Grange, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia at 4:27 p.m. Oct. 19 outside the La Grange Public Library.


A device valued at more than $500 was reported stolen from the AT&T Store, 1 N. La Grange Road, at 11:47 a.m. Oct. 21.

Domestic battery

A nurse at Mercy Hospital in Chicago called police at 12:35 p.m. Oct. 20 to report that a woman in the emergency room said she was beaten up by a man in La Grange before she drove her home. The woman was advised to file a report at the police station after being released.

Dumpster damaged

A dumpster was damaged at a residence in the first block of Burlington Avenue at 5:23 p.m. Oct. 22.

Vehicle egged

A vehicle was egged in the 1000 block of Seventh Avenue between 10 p.m. Oct. 23 and 8 a.m. Oct. 24.

Coffee splashed on car

A resident contacted police to report her car had coffee splashed on it Oct. 19 and then was scratched Oct. 21, all while parked in the lot at Madison and Hillgrove avenues.

Police respond to

garbage can dispute

A resident in the 400 block of Brainard Avenue called police at 4:50 p.m. Oct. 20 to report that her neighbor was accusing her of putting garbage in his garbage can. When police arrived, the neighbors were talking calmly.


Retail theft

Elizabeth S. George, 19, of the 1100 block of Blanchan Avenue, was charged with retail theft and possession of alcohol by a minor after attempting to steal a bottle of Captain Morgan at 3:02 p.m. Oct. 18 from Jewel, 507 E. Woodlawn Ave.

Warrant arrest

Francisco Morales, 30, of the 3500 block of West 61st Street, Chicago, was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Oct. 25 in the 300 block of Dover Avenue on a warrant out of Kane and DuPage counties for failure to appear for driving with a revoked license.

Driving without license

Miguel Garcia, 29, of the 400 block of North Eighth Avenue, Maywood, was charged with driving without a license and wearing a headset while driving at 8:15 a.m. Oct. 14 in the 1200 block of Kemman Avenue.

Residential burglary

A wallet was stolen from a home that was broken into in the 1200 block of Ostrander Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. Oct. 17.


Violating protection order

Joseph P. Canepari, 69, of the 3800 block of Wolf Road, was charged with violating an order of protection at 6 p.m. Oct. 18 in the 3800 block of Wolf Road.


Retail theft

Elias Pita, 39, of the 600 block of Juli Drive, South Elgin, was charged with three counts of retail theft after changing the price tags on items and purchasing them for a lower price at TJ Maxx, 5555 S. Brainard Ave.


Francisco Ortiz, 23, of the 4500 block of Grove Avenue, Brookfield, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after being pulled over for driving with one headlight and improper lane usage at 3:30 a.m. Oct. 11 along Joliet Road. He was also charged with driving without insurance.

Stolen vehicle

An unlocked vehicle with the keys inside was stolen from the parking lot of Jewel, 5545 Brainard Ave., at 4:30 p.m. Oct. 7.

Possession of cannabis

• Matthew Curtis, 29, of the 400 block of Village Circle, Willow Springs; John Monaco, 26, of the 1100 block of Birch Lane, Western Springs; and Kevin A. Goodwin, 29, of the 5300 block of Seventh Avenue, were charged with possession of cannabis after police responded to a complaint for a suspicious vehicle at 7:47 p.m. Oct. 23 in the 900 block of West 55th Street.

• Andrew Timmerman, 24, of La Grange, was issued a local citation for possession of cannabis after being stopped for driving with a suspended license at 1:30 a.m. Oct. 21 in the 6700 block of Joliet Road.

Driving without license

Jose Garcia-Aranda, 34, of the 4100 block of Raymond Avenue, Brookfield, was charged with driving without a license and without insurance after being pulled over for speeding Oct. 14.

Burglary to storage unit

Clothing and Tupperware were stolen from a storage unit that was broken into inside an apartment complex in the 9700 block of Lorraine Drive between Oct. 23 and 25.

Burglary to motor vehicle

Tools were stolen from a truck parked at a job site in the 5800 block of La Grange Road between 5 p.m. Oct. 8 and 7 a.m. Oct. 9.

Theft from locker

Wallets and cash were stolen from two lockers that were broken into at LA Fitness, 5917 S. La Grange Road, on Oct. 23.

Theft from vehicle

A catalytic converter was stolen Oct. 7 from a car parked in the parking lot at Home Depot, 5900 La Grange Road.

Golf course shed damaged

The words “time is fake” was written on the side of a shed that was defaced with red and yellow paint near the ninth hole at Flagg Creek Golf Course. A nearby sign was also damaged.


Violating order of protection

Mark Sanders, 34, of the 3700 block of Van Buren Street, Bellwood, was charged with violating an order of protection after entering the residence of a protected person in the 1200 block of Westchester Boulevard at 3:13 a.m. Oct. 18.

Criminal damage to property

An unknown projectile broke the window of a residence in the 1800 block of Mannheim Road, as reported at 2:15 p.m. Oct. 14.

Residential burglary

Cash and jewelry were stolen from a home that was broken into in the 3000 block of Rosebrook Circle at 7:31 p.m. Oct. 15.
