Members of the Lemont Hornets 83 Gold football team celebrate their recently-completed undefeated run through the regular season. The Hornets start the postseason on Saturday.

LEMONT – Defenses don't come much more dominant than the one the Lemont Hornets 83 Gold team has put on the field this season.

The Hornets recently wrapped up a perfect 8-0 regular season with a 25-0 win over the Hanover Park Hurricanes. It was the Hornets seventh shutout of the season. In the only game they allowed their opponent to score, they won 18-6 over the Lyons Township Tigers.

Lemont is outscoring its opponents 219-6 for the season and will open postseason play at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Lemont High School.

Fifteen hard-working, dedicated players make up this team, and many of them played together last year, as well. Instrumental to their success has been a consistent show of support by the parents, who have assisted not only with coaching, but with numerous volunteer duties and constant encouragement.

The team is comprised of players Alex T., Connor G., Cooper M., Drew I., Elliott K., Ethan T., Evan S., Jackson C., Jake Z., Luke D., Luke W., Mack I., Mikey J., Tommy I. and Tyler B.
