Police file charges against trespassing suspect who was Tased last month

DOWNERS GROVE – Police filed several charges against the Downers Grove man who allegedly fought with police after a foot chase Sept. 30 on Ogden Avenue.

Richard E. Spindler, 21, 3925 Biltmore Road, was charged with resisting arrest, aggravated battery and criminal trespassing at 4:40 p.m. Sept. 30.

Police arrived in the 300 block of Brentwood Place after a neighbor called to report a man in plaid pajama pants and black socks, with no shoes, crawling through the window of a home.

Police observed the man, later allegedly identified as Spindler, running southbound through front yards on Cumner Road. Police began to chase Spindler, following him to the 70 block of Ogden Avenue, when he began fighting with officers in front of Panda Express, police said.

Police used both a Taser and pepper spray to finally subdue Spindler after he allegedly punched at least one officer. according to police.

Spindler and at least one officer were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment for pepper spray, and Spindler had the Taser probes removed.

Police described the injuries as minor at the time of the incident.

Spindler's residence is less than a block from the house he allegedly attempted to illegally enter.
