Pav YMCA offers Livestrong event Nov.

BERWYN – A Livestrong information event will be held for adult cancer survivors at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at the Pav YMCA, 2947 Oak Park Ave., Berwyn.

Cancer survivors will learn more about the Y’s research-based physical activity and well-being initiative that helps people affected by cancer reach their holistic health goals.

The LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program offers those living with cancer, those going through cancer treatment or those previously diagnosed with cancer a safe, empowering environment to participate in activities focused on strengthening the whole person.

The event is free to all adult cancer survivors.

The following sessions will be offered from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays from Jan. 7 through March 27, 2014.

February sessions will be held from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 17 through May 7, 2014.

LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is designed to improve the health and day-to-day quality of life for the country’s growing population of cancer survivors.

By the end of 2013, LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is expected to be offered at 300 YMCA facilities around the country.

To date, more than 16,800 cancer survivors have participated in the program nationwide.
