Lombard cemetery walk to honor veterans on Nov. 11

LOMBARD – The Lombard Historical Society will host a "Cemetery Walk" from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11. The walk takes place at the Lombard Cemetery at Main and Washington streets in Lombard.

Costumed docents from the 8th Veteran Reserve Corps, a Civil War re-enactment group with the Lombard Historical Society, will portray the lives and stories of veterans buried at the Lombard Cemetery.

Soldiers from the War of 1812, the Civil War and WWI will be portrayed as well as stories from their loved ones back home.

Visitors will do a self-guided walk of the cemetery and encounter stories and personalities that have helped shape the community and honored their country. Provided with the cost of admission is a guide of all the graves of the veterans buried at the cemetery.

Cost for the event is $7 per person; children under 10 are free with a paid adult. Proceeds from the event benefit the Lombard Historical Society.
