Stefani’s rushing record not enough for Red Devils
OAK PARK – Ben Stefani etched his name in the Hinsdale Central record books Friday.
The senior running back set Central’s single-game mark for most carries, 42, during a 28-10 loss to Oak Park-River Forest. The previous high was held by John Perkowski, who racked up 41 carries against Glenbard West in 2000.
On his final, record-breaking touch, Stefani tallied the Red Devils’ only touchdown – a 4-yard score with 2:47 remaining in the fourth quarter. He finished with 166 yards and averaged 3.95 yard per carry. He touched the ball on 61 percent of Centrals’ offensive plays.
