Oak Brook man heads back to jail after not paying millions in fines
OAK BROOK – An Oak Brook man known as the "infomercial king" was put back in jail Tuesday after a judge felt the convicted fraudster is still hiding assets from the court, according to media reports.
Judge Robert Gettleman's order came after Kevin Trudeau, 50, was ordered to pay a $38 million fine imposed on him more than five years ago for making false claims in his diet book infomercials, but Trudeau claims he is broke, according to reports.
The Federal Trade Commission has battled for years to get Trudeau to pay the fine, which would be shared with those who purchased, "The Weight-Loss Cure 'They' Don't Want You to Know About."
