Santangelo started with the department in May 1995. Ochsner joined the department in April 1996. Both started their police careers in Berwyn.

Patrol officers Joseph Green and James McDonnell were sworn in as sergeants. Green joined the Berwyn police force in May 1993. McDonnell, who began working in Berwyn in February 2007, transferred from the Wayne Police Department. To date, the Berwyn Police Department consists of 110 sworn officers, including the chief, deputy chief, four division commanders, five lieutenants and 19 sergeants.

Other civilian staff, including radio telecommunications and administrators, are not counted as sworn officers.
