La Grange area trick or treat hours and safety tips

Below is a list of suggested trick-or-treating times and safety tips to keep your Halloween fun and safe.

Countryside

• 3 to 7 p.m. 

La Grange

• 3 to 7 p.m. 

La Grange Park

• 3 to 8 p.m.

Western Springs

• 3 to 8 p.m. 

Westchester

• 3:30 to 7 p.m. 

Safety tips

• Wear costumes that are fireproof and have eye holes large enough for peripheral vision. 

• Apply reflective tape to costumes and candy bags that will glow in the beam of vehicles’ headlights. 

• Trick or treat in groups. Children should always be accompanied by an adult.

• Remain on sidewalks. Walk from house to house. 

• Cross streets only at crosswalks. 

• Visit only residences with lights on. 

• Accept treats only in a doorway; never enter a house. 

• Inspect all candy before allowing children to eat it. 

• Keep candlelit jack-o-lanterns away from doorsteps where costumes could brush against the flame.

• Indoor jack-o-lanterns should be kept away from curtains and furnishings that could catch fire.
