WINFIELD – A new trail segment may be coming to the village of Winfield to connect existing paths.
The village will host a public meeting with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County to discuss the proposed segment of the West Branch Regional Trail from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 28 at Winfield Village Hall, 27W465 Jewel Road.
The proposed three-mile segment would run from the Geneva Spur of the Illinois Prairie Path at Winfield Mounds Forest Preserve to existing trails at West DuPage Woods Forest Preserve, providing connectivity to Lions and Oakwood parks, Central DuPage Hospital, the Winfield Metra station and downtown Winfield, according to a forest preserve news release.
The path would include about two miles of new 10-foot-wide limestone screenings, some short segments of asphalt paving and designated on-street bike routes, the release said.
The public meeting will include a presentation beginning at 6:20 p.m. Staff members will be present to answer questions and collect comments. Maps, drawings, aerial photography and other information also will be available at the meeting.
