Riverside police arrest 2 for vehicle burglaries

RIVERSIDE – Police were called at 9:24 p.m. to the 200 block of Lawton Road for a vehicle burglary in progress Oct. 16.

The offenders were gone when police arrived, and after a search of the area, police were unable to find anyone who met the witnesses’ description.

About 45 minutes later, police received another call about a group of men on bicycles who had just burglarized a car in the 200 block of East Quincy Street. Police reported they found the suspects at Herrick and Delaplaine roads and were taken into custody.

Two of the men in the group had items from the two car burglaries on their person when police searched them.

Macedonio F. Diaz, 18, of the 5000 block of West 30th Place, Cicero, was charged with felony burglary of a motor vehicle; and Francisco Alejandre, 22, of the 2000 block of South 58th Avenue, Cicero, was charged with criminal trespass to a motor vehicle.
