This is the busiest time of year for the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. The Holiday season is approaching, children are back at school and families are experiencing increasing demands on their budgets more than any other time of year.

Slow economic growth along with rising fuel and food prices have left many local families struggling with hunger for the first time. As a result, increasing numbers of people are requesting food assistance from the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. And because of the increasing request, we are turning to the steadfast support of our community for help in meeting the need to feed our hungry neighbors.

The Glen Ellyn Food Pantry is currently serving 100 additional families per month than this time last year. In addition, our Thanksgiving program supports another 550 families. Unfortunately, monetary and food donations are down compared to this time last year. We really need your help!

Our Thanksgiving Meal Appeal is one of our most important fundraising campaigns we conduct all year. Thanksgiving is a time for reflecting on all the blessings we have received over the year, when we look forward to enjoying the company of loved ones while sharing a holiday dinner. Unfortunately, not all of our neighbors can afford this simple, traditional celebration.

You can give your neighbors in need something to be thankful for this holiday season by sponsoring a Thanksgiving Food Box. Your $50 tax-deductible donation provides a family with a 12 to 14 pound turkey, a box of non-perishable foods and perishable foods (milk, cheese, yogurt, eggs).  Donations of any amount are welcome and will help the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry meets its goal of showing 550 families that our community cares.

Donations can be made online at glenellynfoodpantry.org or mailed to: Glen Ellyn Food Pantry, 493 Forest Ave., Glen Ellyn, IL 60137.

The staff and Board of Directors send heartfelt thanks for your support of the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry!
