BROOKFIELD – If you see a procession of ghouls, vampires or werewolves walking in Brookfield on Saturday, there’s no cause for alarm.

The annual Halloween trick or treat event, Monsters on Mainstreet, returns this weekend in the Grand Boulevard and Broadway Business District.

Last year’s event drew nearly 1,500 participants, according to the Brookfield Chamber of Commerce.

Trick-or-treating runs from noon to 3 p.m.

The haunting will be followed by refreshments, a pumpkin and taffy apple giveaway and costume contest at 3 p.m. at Grossdale Station,
