Fire department donates $5K to Wellness House
HINSDALE – It was definitely a treat rather than a trick for families and faculty at the Wellness House in Hinsdale who received a check from the fire department for $5,000 during its annual Halloween party Oct. 16.
The money was raised through a softball tournament that took place in September that honored Mark Johnson, former deputy chief at the Hinsdale Fire Department, who died in the line of duty in 2010. The tournament raised $13,000, $5,000 of which was presented to Wellness House.
“We raised more money than we expected, so we approached the Wellness House and this is a perfect partnership,” said Steve Tullis of the Hinsdale Fire Department.
