Chicago woman grabbed in attempted robbery in Riverside

RIVERSIDE – Riverside police were called at 6:06 p.m. Oct. 16 for an attempted robbery in progress at the corner of 31st Street and Des Plaines Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a 19-year-old Chicago woman sitting on the parkway. She told police that she was walking to the North Riverside Police Department on an unrelated matter when a man riding in a black
Lincoln Navigator jumped
out of the vehicle and ran at her.

She said the man grabbed her arm and attempted to take her purse and iPhone. She told police she screamed and ran towards residential homes in the area.

The woman told police the vehicle did a U-turn and fled southbound.
