RIVERSIDE – While other suburban farmers markets have struggled recently, the Riverside Farmer’s Market had its most successful year yet, the market’s lead volunteer, Amy Jacksic, reported at Thursday night’s Riverside Board of Trustees Meeting.

“We continue to be the fastest-growing farmers market in the western suburbs and are a model for others,” Jacksic said.

Jacksic attributed their success to a committed core group of volunteers, a growing group of vendors from farms all around the state and dozens of regular customers who trek to Riverside from all over the Chicago area, just for the weekly market.

Jacksic said the group is committed to repeating their success next year by producing a promotional video for the market, as well as constantly adding volunteers. Jacksic said she welcomes any suggestions the public may have on ways to further improve the market.

Village Clerk Cathy Haley, who also volunteers for the farmers market, said Jacksic herself was an indispensable member of the volunteer team and a big reason for its success.

"[Jacksic] has put all of us on her back this year,” Haley said. “She did everything. She posted all the photos onto Facebook and she was there almost every week.”
