State Rep. Reboletti discusses proposals to reduce gang violence

ELMHURST – State Rep. Dennis Reboletti, R-Elmhurst, and the Illinois Gang Violence Task Force discussed a range of proposals to reduce gang violence in Chicago and throughout the state.

Chicago Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy met with the Illinois Gang Violence Task Force, which Reboletti co-chairs. The task force is responsible for studying and analyzing the recent increase in street gang violence in Illinois.

When the General Assembly reconvenes in Springfield next week, Reboletti would like to see additional discussion on House Bill 2265 which aims to increase minimum sentencing for the most serious gun crimes.

The task force will continue to conduct subject matter hearings, and will issue a public report of its findings and recommendations to the General Assembly.
