DOWNERS GROVE – Immigration reform advocates plan to greet House Deputy Whip Peter Roskam on Thursday outside the Downers Grove Township GOP Annual Reagan Day Dinner to send him the message that “Real leaders lead, not hide," according to a press release.

The group said it thinks Rep. Roskam is out of touch with Illinois voters who support a path to citizenship.

"As a leader of the Republican Party, Congressman Roskam has continued to fail to lead by blocking immigration reform and not coming up with solutions to fix the broken immigration system," the group said in a news release. "Our families have visited his office time and time again and the Congressman has not met with families affected by immigration reform."

The release says the group will bring a "10-foot-high Roskam puppet" to the rally.

The rally is set for 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Ashyana Banquet Hall, 1620 75th St., Downers Grove.
