Lombard Police Department hosting more than a dozen senior citizen police academy classes

LOMBARD – For the second year in a row, the Lombard Police Department is hosting its Senior Citizens Police Academy this fall.

More than a dozen classes are planned from October through December at senior citizen communities in Lombard.

The program provides an opportunity for senior citizens who reside at Beacon Hill, Lexington Square and Sunrise Senior Living to become familiar with the day-to-day operations of the police department, according to Sergeant Dave Kundrot, coordinator for the class.

Kundrot said the academy enables senior citizen participants to gain a better understanding of the procedures, guidelines, responsibilities, demands, personnel, equipment, policies and laws that guide the department’s decisions.
