First Trust and Falcon 5K runs to close roads in Wheaton

A pair of charity runs will shut down streets in Wheaton this week, according to news releases from the city.

The First Trust Portfolio Cares Foundation Run will be held from 5:30 to about 6:30 p.m. Thursday.

Because of the run, the Wheaton Police Department will close the following streets:

• Liberty Drive between South Cross Street and Commerce Drive

• Commerce Drive between Liberty Drive and North Gables Boulevard

• Manchester Road between Knollwood Drive and Bridge Street

• The Manchester Road-Wesley Street railroad overpass

• Western Avenue between Wesley Street and West Lincoln Avenue

• Bridge Street between the Manchester Road-Wesley Street railroad overpass and Liberty Drive

• West Street between Front and West Indiana streets

•West Indiana Street between West and South Main streets

• South Main Street between Roosevelt Road and Liberty Drive.

Roads will also be closed for the Falcon 5K Run to benefit Wheaton North High School from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday. The following closures will occur:

• West Thomas Road between Darling Street and Gary Avenue

• Morse Street between Geneva Road and Wheaton North High School

• Papworth Street between East Cole Avenue and West Thomas Road
