Cosley Zoo offers Halloween fun

Cosley Zoo will celebrate Halloween throughout the month of October during its annual Pumpkin Fest, according to a news release from the Wheaton Park District.

The celebration began earlier in the month, with the zoo offering pumpkins, gourds, apples and other fall produce for sale. A straw pyramid and corn stalk tunnel for young children can also be found at the zoo.

Several events are coming up at Cosley in the next few weeks, including Cosley's Mascot Day on Oct. 19. Children can meet Casper the Friendly Ghost, along with Bentley the Bobcat and Ozzie from the Kane County Cougars.

The festivities culminate Oct. 25 with the Spooktacular event. Visitors are encouraged to come in costume and take part in crafts, a spooky pond path, trick or treating and pumpkin carving. Staff will be in costume to help with activities and introduce attendees to live animals.

Tickets to the Spooktacular cost $10 for ages 3 to 14, $5 for those 15 to adult and are free for children 2 and under.

Call 630-665-5534 to register for the Spooktacular. Visitors are encouraged to pre-register before Oct. 21. The zoo is located at 1356 N. Gary Ave. in Wheaton.
