Woodridge family escapes morning fire thanks to family dog
WOODRIDGE – A Woodridge family safely escaped a house fire early Friday morning after being alerted by the family dog.
Although the house had working smoke detectors, they did not activate until about five minutes after the firefighters had arrived. Instead, the family was woken up by their dog when it came into their room barking, according to the fire district.
The Darien-Woodridge Fire Protection District responded to the house fire at about 4:10 a.m. Oct. 11 in the 1200 block of Richfield Court.
