CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Brooke Kochevar made a bit of history Oct. 10.

The Coastal Carolina University freshman and Glen Ellyn native was named the Big South Conference Freshman of the Week  last week after a strong performance at the Charleston Southern University Wendy's Invitational.

The Freshman of the Week honor is a new award this season and Kochevar is the first Chanticleer player to receive the award. She is the 35th CCU golfer to earn conference golfer of the week recognition since the 2002-03 season.

Kochevar tied for third individually in the three-round tourney with a score of 223 in what was just her second career college tournament. She scored a career-best 71 in the opening round and followed with a pair of 76s. The finish was the best by a CCU freshman this season.
