D-33 chosen from thousands to present at WIDA Conference

WEST CHICAGO – Administrators from West Chicago Elementary School District 33 have been chosen from thousands of entries to present at the first annual World Class Instructional Design Assessment (WIDA) Conference Oct. 18.

The presentation, titled, “When student engagement is high, so is learning! Instructional Practices to Increase Student Engagement” is based on engagement techniques and strategies used by classroom teachers in the district to increase students' academic achievement.

It was one of 200 presentations chosen for the conference.

Those from the district who will present at the conference include the Department for Learning administrative team and two building principals.

The presentation will share how D-33 implemented a district-wide plan to increase student engagement and the use of language in the classroom in response to changing needs brought about by new standards.

Lupe Navarro, lead teacher for Second Language Learning, also will host a roundtable discussion to share how Pioneer School implemented school-wide Content and Learning Objectives as part of its school improvement plan.
