Bolingbrook man found not guilty of mom's murder due to insanity
BOLINGBROOK – A Bolingbrook man charged with the December 2011 murder of his mother was found not guilty Oct. 11 by reason of insanity, according to media reports.
Psychiatric evaluations found Michael Marzo, 25, was suffering from schizophrenia when he likely stabbed his mother in the back Dec. 2, 2011, at their home in the 500 block of Nassau Avenue, media reports said.
Bolingbrook police officers initially responded to the home after receiving a call regarding a domestic dispute, according to a previous report from Suburban Life Media. While en route to the scene, a female caller contacted police to report that Shirley Marzo was dead in the home’s bathroom.
