State Rep. Bellock named first female Deputy House Minority Leader

WESTMONT – State Rep. Patricia Bellock (R-Westmont) was recently appointed Deputy House Minority Leader.

Named by House Republican Leader Jim Durkin, Bellock will be the first woman in Illinois history to hold this position.

“I am honored to embrace this opportunity to help lead our caucus and our state with a clear focus on the need to restore confidence in Illinois’ future,” Bellock said. “To do this, we must bring stability to state finances to ease the burden on working families, allow for robust private-sector job creation and complete the cost-saving Medicaid reforms we have worked together to achieve.”

Along with this new position, Bellock also serves as Chief Budget Negotiator, Minority Spokesperson on the Human Services-Appropriations Committee, a member of the Labor and Commerce and Mass Transit Committees as well as a the secretary of the board of directors for Women in Government.

Bellock's 47th District includes portions of Westmont, Hinsdale, Downers Grove, Oak Brook and Elmhurst.
