Letter: Disappointed in the village

To the Editor:

Sorry day for Downers Grove residents.

We live in O’Brien Park and they are draining our pond and making it into a swamp or wetland. It has been a source for our wildlife to live and nest. Birds, ducks, geese, herons, egrets etc.

Our mayor and the village staff refused to listen to all of us in the area. We just wanted the pond maintained or cleaned up. They instead chose the swamp.

I am disappointed that it is draining as we moved here because of the pond. They will spend over $500,000 for this wetland. It is a shame beauty has to be dealt with in this manner.

Many people have enjoyed this pond. We all went to meetings but were not heard, they had already made their decision.
