DuPage Convalescent Center collecting gold and silver for fundraiser
DuPage County community members can use unwanted precious metals to fund care for residents at the DuPage Convalescent Center, according to a news release from the county.
The nonprofit DuPage Convalescent Center Foundation is collecting gold, silver and platinum to help meet a $125,000 goal to renovate the center's lunch room in honor of the center's 125th anniversary, the release said. Jewelry, flatware, dinnerware, coins and dental gold will be accepted. Gold can range from 10 karats to 24 karats and silver must be sterling.
Those interested in donating can drop off jewelry and other pieces at the reception desk at 400 N. County Farm Road, Wheaton. The deadline for the fundraiser is Nov. 30, and the foundation will receive 90 percent of the value of all donations.
