ELMHURST – The request for a T-shirt from a York alumnus grew into a full-blown graphic design project.

Following the York Distinguished Alumni Program Tri-Athlon in March, one of the participants requested an alumni T-shirt. Noreen Leone, who is a District 205 employee and president of the York Boosters Club, knew who might be able to help.

Her son, Nick Leone is a senior in Joe Stolz’ Graphic Arts II class this year and considering the field for a career. He designed the shirt with the York crest on the front and the phrase, “Once a Duke, Always a Duke,” across the back.

Stolz said even after designing the shirt, Nick Leone saw the project all the way through production. Fellow students Angelika Rosada and Elena Ceas did all of the printing while Stolz and Nick Leone lifted the shirts on and off the press.

The team created 120 finished shirts and received requests for more.

Stolz said he’s proud of his students and enjoyed working together to create the shirts for York and its alumni.
