Miss Illinois Brittany Smith of Elmhurst honored by DuPage County Board

ELMHURST – Miss Illinois, an Elmhurst native, was recognized with a proclamation during Tuesday's DuPage County Board meeting.

Brittany Smith was crowned Miss Illinois June 29 and competed in the Miss America pageant last month.

She graduated from Purdue University where she studied health and kinesiology and plans to pursue a career in healthcare. She hopes to work as a medical assistant and continue her graduate studies to become a physician.

As Miss Illinois, Smith is currently educating schools and community organizations about the dangers associated with distracted driving.
