LOMBARD – Despite village-wide support online and through social media, Lombard came up short in the Rand McNally's Best of the Road competition in its bid for "Most Fun" small town in America, the village announced Tuesday.

The winner in the category of "Most Fun" was Corning, N.Y.

Lombard advanced to the final round of competition after coming in second in the online voting portion of the competition, then they submitted a video to judges showcasing everything that makes Lombard fun. The finalists were judged by these videos, along with social media support throughout the competition.

"The Village of Lombard would like to congratulate Corning, N.Y. on its win for 'Most Fun' small town in America," said Village President Keith Giagnorio. "I would also like to thank the residents and supporters of the Village of Lombard for all of the hard work leading up to the final judging of the contest. Every picture or video submitted, every Tweet, every Facebook post helped contribute to our success in the contest."
