Police reports for Hinsdale

Burglary reported

• Someone entered an unlocked car and stole an iPad while it was parked in a parking lot between 11:30 and 11:50 a.m. Oct. 1 at 950 North York Road. The iPad was valued at $600.

• Someone smashed a car window and stole a radar detector and numerous CDs between 7:30 a.m. and 6:07 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Highland Depot commuter parking lot. The radar detector was valued at $100 and the CDs were valued at $300.

Identity theft reported

Someone used a victim's identity to make fraudulent charges and file false tax returns between 12:01 a.m. April 1 and 6 p.m. Oct. 2 in the 5800 block of South Grant St. The victim received bills from Kohl's totaling $1,484.29 and a bill from AT&T for $1,979.56.

Criminal damage reported

Someone broke a window at The Lane School between 9 a.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday. The cost to replace the window is about $400.

Disorderly conduct charged

Joshua Chacin, 23, 711 Bittersweet Lane, was charged with disorderly conduct after a school security officer observed the suspect pulling door handles and attempting to gain entry to Hinsdale Central High School at 8:24 a.m. Oct. 1. Suspect did not have an authorized reason for being on school grounds.
