DARIEN – The Tri-State Fire Protection District has entered into an intergovernmental agreement with the village of Willow Springs that revises the current service agreement between Tri-State and the village for fire and emergency medical services dispatching.

Pursuant to the terms of the agreement, Tri-State will be providing fire and emergency services to the village of Willow Springs’ utilizing the village’s single fire station. The three year agreement provides new revenue to Tri-State to help offset the rising costs of services, personnel and equipment.

Tri-State also serves Darien, Burr Ridge, Willowbrook and unincorporated areas.

A review of call volumes, coverage and response areas for each Tri-State station supported the relocation of apparatus and personnel at the Tri-State Station 4 facility located at Western Avenue and 63rd Street in Willowbrook to the Willow Springs fire house located at 8259 Willow Springs Road, according to a news release.

Calls in the northern part of the Tri-State service area will be serviced by Tri-State Station 2 located at 419 Plainfield in Darien along with existing mutual response, mutual aid and auto aid responses with neighboring departments; a long standing practice in the fire service. Station 4 will continue to be utilized for administrative purposes, according to the release.

The addition of services to the village of Willow Springs will have no adverse impact on Tri-State’s long standing response time goals, read the release.
