Suspicious vehicle report leads to prostitution arrest in Riverside
RIVERSIDE – A call to police at 7 a.m. Sept. 29 to report a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of Lawton Road led to prostitution charges for two individuals, Riverside police reported.
When officers arrived at the location, they found the van parked with two individuals inside – a man and a woman.
Police reported both were naked and the woman was performing a sex act on the man.
Both were taken into custody to the police station and interviewed, police said.
Police later charged Latrice D. Powell, 38, of the 100 block of Lawton Road, with one count of prostitution.
Police also charged Joel Quezada, 47, of the 3600 block of Central Avenue, Cicero, with one count of solicitation of prostitution.
Police reported Quezada traveled from Cicero to Riverside to exchange sex for money several times, as well as providing food and medicine to Powell on some occasions.
Police reported Powell also was on electronic monitoring for a heroin arrest and was unable to leave her residence so she said she was engaging in prostitution to get money.
Powell’s electronic monitoring agreement was revoked, and after posting bond on the prostitution charge, she was turned over to Cook County Sheriff’s Police.
