VILLA PARK – Willowbrook High School announced that seven of its students have been recognized in the National Merit Scholarship Program as semifinalists and commended students.

Emily Gornick has been named as a semifinalist in the scholarship competition. This annual competition is an opportunity for some of the country's academically elite students to win scholarship funds. As a semifinalist, Gornick will submit an application and be considered for the final round.

Commended students from Willowbrook include Ryan Barrie, Kevin Cheng, Molly Kuenstler, Therese Marsh, Gregory Ross and Lukas Wideman. These students were recognized for their strong scores on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test/PSAT, but will not advance in the competition.
