Ruggles wins Spanish League 3-point contest

VITORIA, SPAIN – The shooting prowess of Wheaton Academy junior Josh Ruggles continues to expand.

After making national news with his 135 three-point makes in five minutes, which was seen in a video that went viral, he was invited to Spain to compete in the Spanish league "Supercopa" three-point contest on Saturday.

And Ruggles went on to defeat eight professional players, beating former Chicago Bull Andres Nocioni 18-17 in the semifinal before knocking off Jaycee Carroll 14-12 in the finals. Carroll was the top-scorer in the Spanish league in 2010 and 2011.

The 16-year old, who is the reigning IHSA King of the HIll 3-point state champion, also emerged victorious over North Carolina State all-time 3-point leader Scott Woods in the quarters.
