North Riverside library announces winners of Banned Book Week raffle

NORTH RIVERSIDE – Twenty patrons of the North Riverside Public Library were the lucky winners of the library’s annual Banned Books Week raffle, the library announced.

Jonathan Daniels and Noretta Griffin each won a North Riverside Park Mall gift card, which were donated by Friends of the Library.

Michelle Zdarsky, Nancy Lewandowski, Sarah Richied, Javier Bogoslaw and Guillermo Jiminez were each awarded a ticket to the North Riverside Players’ performance of “You Cant Take It With You,” donated by the North Riverside Players.

Emily Brundage was the winner of a Banned Books Week T-shirt.

Patrons were given a raffle ticket for each banned book they checked out during Banned Books Week, which was celebrated Sept. 22 through 29.

Banned Books Week celebrates the rigght to choose or express one’s opinion, even if that opinion is considered unorthodox or unpopular, according to a library news release. Banned Books week has been observed since 1982.

Other winners won T-shirts, notebooks, movie tickets from Classic Cinemas and other items.
