BOLINGBROOK – The grandmother of a 6-month-old from Bolingbrook has been charged with the baby's murder, according to Oak Lawn police.

Alfreda Geidrijc, 61, of 6605 W. 91st St. in Oak Lawn, was charged Monday with first degree murder in the death of 6-month-old Vivian, who lived in Bolingbrook with her parents, police said.

According to police, the child's father and grandfather stepped out of the grandparents' house for a short time Sunday morning when the alleged murder took place. A sledgehammer and knife were allegedly used in the murder, according to media reports.
