ELMHURST – TAILS Humane Society is bringing more than 100 adoptable dogs and puppies of all breeds to the Elmhurst Petco.

Most of the dogs and puppies will come from TAILS' partner animal shelters in Oklahoma where shelters are overtaxed with animals. The dogs and puppies available have been cared for in TAILS foster homes prior to the Petco event, which allows them to adjust to living in a house rather than a shelter, according to a news release.

All dogs and puppies will be spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccinations and dewormings and microchipped, the release said. Adoptions will include a free vet exam at a participating veterinary clinic and one free month of free pet health insurance.

Adoption fees will be deeply discounted for this event because of funding provided by Petco Foundation, according to the release. Adult dog adoptions will be $75 and puppies under 6 months old will be $200 plus a $75 obedience class deposit.

The adoption event will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 19 and 20 at the Elmhurst Petco, 199 Route 83.
