ADDISON – Addison Trail High School will host a tribute to honor former principal Don Layne on Oct. 18 at the school.

Layne died Aug. 11, about a month before his 83rd birthday. He served as a teacher in District 88 for 18 years. Then he worked as assistant principal before taking the position as principal for 10 years. After working at Addison Trail, he became a District 88 Board of Education member.

Layne also was an active member of the Addison Chamber of Commerce and Industry, serving as director, chamber president and treasurer. He chartered the Village Substance Responsibility Commission and Addison Trail's Operation Snowball weekend. He was also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Addison.

The tribute will begin with a gallery viewing of photos and memorabilia from Layne's time with District 88 in the commons at 4 p.m. followed by a tribute program in the auditorium at 5 p.m. At 7:30 p.m. the football coin toss will be done in Layne's honor.
