BOLINGBROOK – Three suspects were arrested early Saturday after a shooting and subsequent police chase ended near Joliet, according to the Bolingbrook Police Department.

Around 12:20 a.m. Saturday, a pair of Bolingbrook residents were shot in the 100 block of Malibu Drive. Local police heard multiple shots fired, then observed several subjects running in different directions and a gray SUV fleeing the scene, according to police.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the SUV but the vehicle drove around Lake Shore Drive and back onto Briarcliff Road, intentionally ramming a squad car in the process, Lt. Mike Rompa said.

Officers pursued the SUV through Bolingbrook and onto Interstate-55; the car chase ended in near Joliet, as the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot, Rompa said.

Bolingbrook police, with the help of several other agencies, apprehended three Joliet residents, who were taken into custody and transported to the Bolingbrook Police Department, according to Rompa.

The three Joliet residents were charged with aggravated battery with a firearm.

A 20-year-old Bolingbrook man sustained a gun shot wound to the chest and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital. The second victim, a 21-year-old Bolingbrook man, sustained a gun shot wound to the leg and was treated at Adventist Bolingbrook before being transferred to Loyola.

Neither injury appears to be life threatening, police said.
