Young people these days ... lend a hand

To the Editor:

In the last couple of weeks, I have had some very nice interactions with several young people in La Grange.

I am a senior citizen struggling with Parkinson's disease. On Aug. 8, some friends and I went to the La Grange Theatre. The manager of the theatre and the manager of Wild Monk – where we went after the movie – went beyond the ordinary to help me get around.

This was nice, but the young couple (who were expecting their first child in two weeks) who jumped our dead car battery, were really a Godsend. They kept assuring us that it was no bother and they did not want a tip.

Again on Sept. 14, I was having lunch on La Grange Road with a friend at Bacino's. Again, the professionals were very accomodating and pleasent. When we started to leave, I had one of my freezing episodes. A young couple at the next table came to my rescue. Without them, I could not have made it to the car, much less get seated. They also insisted we were not causing them any inconvenience.

Some seniors bash the young, but my experience has been positive. I'm sorry I did not get any names, but I'm sure those that witness these incidents will recognize them.

Sincerely,

Teresa Buckley
