Elmhurst Police Explorers invite new members

ELMHURST – The Elmhurst Police Explorers will host an open house to invite new teens and young adults to join.

Police Explorers is a youth program for 14- to 22-year-olds who would like to learn and participate in law enforcement and criminal justice careers. Members of the Elmhurst Police Explorer Post 66 meet weekly for presentations and training topics at the police department.

The group also assists the City of Elmhurst with operations at events like the Turkey Trot, St. Patrick's Day Parade and the Elmhurst Jaycee's Carnival. Explorers also learn First Aid, CPR, Military Drill and leadership skills.

The open house meeting for new members is at 7 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Elmhurst Police Department training room.
