OAK BROOK – The District 53 Board of Education adopted a balanced budget with a $12.06 million spending plan at its Sept. 16 meeting.

The board said it is committed to a balanced budget that maintains a strong educational program and supports its three prongs of school operations: instruction, professional development and technology, according to board reports.

The board held a public hearing on the budget prior to the meeting, but there were no objections.

The board also discussed its goals for the year, such as continuing to identify critical repair and maintenance items at the buildings, conserving resources for capital improvements and continuing to evaluate educational needs each year, according to the report.
