Villa Park church to hold community meal, lecture series

VILLA PARK – Beginning in October, Calvary United Methodist Church in Villa Park will begin hosting free, monthly community meals and guest speakers. The church is located at 136 E. Highland Ave.

On Oct. 17, Roger Curless of United Methodist Church will present Justice For Our Neighbors, a program that provides support to low-income immigrants by offering educational opportunities, legal services and advocacy.

On Nov. 21, Bill Karges of Pioneer Garden and Feed, Inc. will speak about composting and winterizing gardens.

Jerry Prather of Senior Solutions will speak on Dec. 19 about winterizing a home and offer painting tips.

Loren and Twila Habegger will present on Jan. 16 about their work with Heifer International and their service trip to Honduras.

The community meals will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the speakers begin at 6 p.m.
