ELMHURST – A Glen Ellyn woman was cited for disobeying a traffic control device after she struck a pedestrian about 4:45 p.m. Tuesday at St. Charles Road and West Avenue in Elmhurst.

Marcia Novak, 69, of the 300 block of Alder Lane, Glen Ellyn, was driving west on St. Charles Road in the left lane when the traffic light at West Avenue turned red and she struck an Elmhurst man. He was running in the crosswalk northbound on West Avenue, and Novak did not see the pedestrian, according to a police report.

The 46-year-old pedestrian stopped at the intersection and waited for the walk signal before running in the crosswalk when he was struck by Novak's passenger side bumper. He rolled up on the hood of her car and broke the windshield, according to a police report.

The man was helped by witnesses on the scene before paramedics transported him to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
