First-ever Ale Fest a hit in Lisle

LISLE – The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce debuted its Lisle Ale Fest craft beer festival Saturday, and it attracted big crowds to downtown Lisle.

Chamber President Tom Althoff said organizers actually had to turn down “200 to 300 people” hoping to get into the fest.

“That was the only downside of the event. We ran out of space and couldn’t accommodate them with [beer supplies],” Althoff said.

“Next, year we are going to expand the event. We will keep it in the same location, just move a little east.”

The inaugural event was held at the corner of Burlington Avenue and Main Street and featured more than 80 unique craft beers from brewers across the country, as well as area blues musicians and BBQ provided by local Lisle businesses.

The Lisle Area Chamber, as well as the Lisle Rotary, Lisle Lions, Kiwanis, St. Joan of Arc Knights of Columbus and the Lisle Woman’s Club will be the beneficiaries of proceeds from the fest.

“We definitely made some money,” Althoff said, adding that totals were not yet known.
